The Otjiwarongo Crocodile Farm was founded in 1985 starting off with a breeding herd of 60 adult Nile crocodiles. To date, it is the only crocodile farm in Namibia serving as an important conservational tourist attraction with our motto: sustaining by entertaining!
Crocodile tours, lasting approximately 20-30 minutes, can be done every day during business hours.
Experience our crocodiles from a very close distance while our guides introduce you to these reptiles.
Crocodile Tours can be arranged upon arrival.
Every Saturday during Summer months from September to May at 11:00 AM sharp, the breeding herd is fed at the Crocodile Farm Otjiwarongo.
Let our magnificent reptiles entertain you during their feeding session.
Please Note: Crocodile Feeding only takes place during summer months from September to May as crocodiles do not eat at all during winter.
Accompanied by our experienced guides, you can safely get close to our Crocodiles of all sizes – some of them up to 6 metres in length.
From mid-December until the end of January the crocodile eggs hatch, and if you’re lucky, you might be around to witness this extraordinary occurrence.
I have stopped here for drinks and a light meal several times and can recommend this as a good destination at any time during the day. Very neat gardens, nice simple food, a nice small shop and an interesting tour of the crocodile farm itself make this a pleasant destination in Otjiwarongo
The guide in the farm, having worked very long time there, is very knowledgeable and friendly. You can see crocs or every shape and size there, including an occasional fight between the male crocs.
The restaurant in the garden has nice shade and relaxing atmosphere. I am not a big fan of croc meat, but also in this regard the restaurant exceeded my expectations. The croc kebab was well presented, succulent and delicious.
A Very delightful lunch!!!
We have enjoyed the lunch and setting during a very hot business visit in the area. Food was good and service great. Well done!!!
Unique experience
The Crocodile ranch is the tourist part of a farm which has more than 3900 Nile Crocodiles. They breed them for the skins and the meat (I had a crocodile meal at Wolwedans it was excellent). They had crocodiles that were more than 100 years old and you can handle newborns if you wish. We did not eat at the restaurant so can not comment on it.
The guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and spoke 5 European languages.
Worth a visit!
Nice little restaurant, with options on the menu if you don`t fancy trying the crocodile,,staff were very friendly and prices are very good.
